OUR
CONCERNS:
- Contrary
to the vision of Saugerties Comprehensive Plan for residential
areas.
- Air
quality changes because of dust generated by quarry machinery
and trucks in an already sensitive Mid-Hudson air quality area.
- Noise
created by blasting, stone crushing, truck traffic and echo properties
of the surrounding hills.
- Degradation
of water table and aquifier disturbances to surrounding homes
and businesses by blasting and removing the stone.
- Wetland
and stream degradation.
- Irreparable
damage to the community because of truck traffic during business
and school bus periods.
- Possible
long term environmental affect on wildlife and wildlife migrations.
- Will
negatively impact long-term property values.

PROPOSAL
SPECIFICS
- 2.8
MILLION yards of stone are to be excavated over a 28 year period
- The
projected truck traffic will be 18- 100 truck trips per day.

Quarry equipment will include blasting equipment, stone crushers,
loaders, trucks and scales etc.

Creation of a hole over 140 feet below existing grade. This hole
will go beneath the water table spoiling over 136,000 gallons
of water a day.
